Dan Dowd
Dowd’s wall-mounted assemblages combine clothing, rubber, fur, rubber rock hoppers and other kinds of worldly ephemera into unique, carefully considered compositions. His work speaks of the current political climate as well as histories embedded in these objects. Dan’s work locates them within our consumption-heavy material culture and places an emphasis on re-use and recreation as alternative paths forward. Ubiquitous throughout the work are pieces of clothing, often clearly used or otherwise maculated, which suggest the bodies they once inhabited. Themes of class, unseen and boundaries populate the work.
