2026 Studio Incubator
The Studio Incubator is an artist residency hosted by Lights Out in over 3,000 square feet of our snowshoe factory, with the goal of helping artists realize large projects during the summer. Artists will be working with [number] studio assistants in a community oriented space designed for collaboration and risk taking. This residency was made possible by donations from the Maine Arts commission, the Onion Foundation, and donors like you.
Summer 2026 Residents
Brian Trelegan
Sculptor
I’m an artist from Maine, born in Massachusetts, and currently living in Columbus, Ohio while I get my MFA in art and technology at The Ohio State University. I collect old toys, electronics and media and sometimes make art with them. I find common ground with and humor in these objects through their flaws and glitches.
Sally Wagley
Printmaker and mixed media
I work in many media, including painting, drawing, embroidery, printmaking and collage. I'll be devoting my time at Lights Out this summer to a monotype series exploring a variety of subjects, including language and writing; pattern and decoration; circles and spheres; and clothes in relation to ideas about the body and gender. Very grateful for access to the fabulous Snowshoe Factory and especially the printing press.
Timothy Owen
Mushroom sculptor
Timothy Owen is an artist working in collaboration with nature. In tune with the various mycelial networks that interweave the forest floor, he works to reimagine a world in terms of connections and associations instead of “me” and “my.” Currently, in relation to Reishi, he questions if waste is even a possibility. Through woodworking, mushroom cultivation and composting he's developed a practice of building, creating and stewarding living sculptures that are breathing, growing, living processes.
